14 "Must Have" Gift Ideas for the Coffee Enthusiast
Here are fourteen of my favorite gift finds to delight your coffee-loving family and friends. Because, let's face it, an hour spent without caffeine is an hour wasted! (Please note, none of these are affiliate links…we just wanted to share some cool things that we found!)
1) THE CHEMEX
As I have recently discovered and have shared many times before, this is my new favorite way to brew coffee. For my first-time experience using it, see my blog post How I Learned to Brew an Amazing Cup of Coffee. This is an amazing brewer, and I am very close to ditching my Keurig to use it exclusively every day.
2) Grind and Brew Coffee Maker
There is nothing like a freshly ground cup of coffee, and this traditional drip coffee maker has a built-in grinder to brew your perfect cup of morning joe (or any time of day joe!). This item is number one on my wish list this year, as I find myself making up sample cups of our our coffee more and more for potential customers. Check out this review of grind and brew coffee makers.
3) Siphon Brew Coffee Maker
Looking for a coffee gift idea for an unabashed coffee geek or someone who likes gadgets that look complicated and excite a lot of kitchen talk? I can't help getting excited over unique brewing methods, such as the Siphon brew coffee maker (aka vacuum coffee maker). A vacuum coffee brewer is that thingy you've probably spotted in a few hyper-hipster coffee shops and never known how it works. Read up on Siphon brewers here.
4) Cold Brew Coffee Maker
With more than a little percolating patience, your gift recipient will have a week's worth of unapologetically strong cold brew to stash in their fridge. In place of using hot water, cold brew steeps coarse coffee grounds in cold water over an extended period of time – generally 12 to 24 hours! The result is bigger, bolder, and less acidic coffee than coffee made in a drip coffee maker. Good Housekeeping has reviewed cold brew coffee makers for you.
5) Aeropress Coffee and Espresso Maker
This is a handy coffee maker to use for camping or while traveling. It incorporates a "gentle press" system that uses microfilters to deliver coffee that is rich in flavor. If that fancy espresso maker is not within your budget, but you want to be able to make espresso at home, and someone asks you what you would like for the holidays, this is it!
6) Single serve coffee brewer
Here's another great solution for brewing coffee while on the go! Many of these brewers fit right over any standard size mug to brew up a fresh cup of coffee. The best part? They are dishwasher safe and reusable, so you limit waste. Explore this link for reviews.
7) Electric Smart Mug
Do you or someone you know find that your coffee quickly gets cold, especially in these chilly winter months? Electric smart mugs are the solution! These mugs are LCD temperature-controlled and designed to keep your coffee at the perfect temperature while you're on the go. Some are even Bluetooth operated from your phone! Friends, this is the 21st Century — you don't have to drink cold coffee. Click here for some recommendations.
8) Insulated Coffee Mug
Looking for coffee gift ideas for an outdoorsy person? Campers know the importance of an insulated mug from which to peacefully enjoy a hot coffee while surrounded by other delights - mountain peaks, trees, wildflowers, babbling brooks. Like everything carried during extended camping forays, insulated mugs need to be lightweight and compact. Click here to see what's out there to choose from
9) Ceramic NY Coffee Cups (Set of 2)
For over fifty years, New York City has made the coffee-to-go cup with the customer-friendly WE ARE HAPPY TO SERVE YOU slogan part of its culture. These iconic cups have become standard-issue props on motion pictures and TV shows set in the city. So it's no wonder that this enduring icon has been turned from paper into reusable ceramic. These 10-ounce cups are dishwasher and microwave safe. Witty remakes of the unforgettable original.
10) Handheld Milk Frother
Whatever you prefer in your coffee – whole milk, half and half, skim, soy, or oat - is made frothier and fluffier in a minute with this handy gadget. Your coffee lover can have a perfectly frothed latte in under 30 seconds. Not only can a frother work with non-dairy milks, but it can also be used to stir up powdered shakes and make whipped cream. New York Magazine has reviewed the twelve best milk frothers to help you choose.
11) Coffee Scented Candle
If drinking coffee day in and day out isn't enough for your coffee lover, gift them an aromatic coffee-infused candle to fill their home with the delightful aroma of coffee at any time. Candles come with notes of dark roast and chocolate, dark cacao and patchouli, roasted coffee and vanilla, or hints of chocolate and hazelnut. Pick one out from this list.
12) Coffee Poster
This coffee infographic poster will look great on the wall of a coffee lover's kitchen. It features essential coffees from around the world and also functions as a cheat sheet for aspiring baristas. The printing is crisp and sharp, and the colors are beautiful and subtle. What's more, the poster comes in several sizes and is designed to fit standard off-the-shelf frames, such as those from IKEA.
13) Where to Drink Coffee Guide Book
Know a coffee lover who is always thinking about their next cup and who also likes to travel. This guidebook will help them map out the best coffee shops for their next getaway, wherever that may be. Coffee experts and baristas share their secrets - 600 of the best coffee spots across 50 countries.
