So in my coffee research, I started to research coffee and how it is harvested. As someone who has drank it for many years, I never questioned where coffee came from! I knew it came from a plant, but I assumed that the plant grew beans. Well, ladies and gentlemen, coffee is not technically a "bean!"
Coffee "beans" are actually the seeds of the coffee plant's berries (red cherry-like berries), which grows on coffea trees. To harvest, the seeds are separated from the berries, and then dried using various methods. Once dry, they are green seeds ready to be shipped for roasting around the world.
I wonder if this can count now as one of my daily source of fruit and vegetables? Hmmm....
